Getting Back to Charting

Updated: Feb 28

I think we can all agree, life is pretty crazy right now. There is a lot of things distracting us and taking up our time...wait is it just me?

If you are in the same boat as me you might probably agree, when it comes to charting at the end of the day, getting to bed at a decent hour might be clouding your mind...again just me?

The instructions you are given when you begin charting is to "chart end of the day, everyday". This is not just a beginners instruction this should become a rule of life when using the Creighton Model System. Charting everyday not only helps you to stay on track, but it helps you see what is happening with your cycles and fertility. Do not get stuck in the trap of "my cycles are always the same, nothing to worry about". Because these days it is unfortunately rare I see clients who are seeing regularity in their cycles. Now to be clear, I am not saying all the women and couples I am working with are having difficult charts, I am just saying stress is taking a toll on so many people these days.

So what can you do to remember to chart? What can you do to get back on the wagon of charting if you fell off during a wind storm caused by a life of chaos? Have no fear, we are here for you.

Reminders

Put reminders on your phone, a sticky note in your bathroom, or on your bedroom dresser. Make a visible note to yourself to chart at the end of your day. The more often you see it the more likely you are to remember. The more you remember the easier you will get back into the habit of putting your stamp and description on the chart at the end of your day, every single day.

Clear The Dust Away

Maybe you are coming from a place where you stopped charting, a long time ago. Maybe it was after having a baby or you were in a place of struggling with infertility and it became too much to see it everyday. No worries, pull your chart out, clear off the dust, and get back on the horse! If you started charting once before you can start again. Reach out to your former practitioner and ask her if you can meet to go over things. You can even set up for another Introductory Session if you feel you need a more in-depth refresher. It is never too late to get back into it. Charting in every season of life is important, try to make it a priority in yours.

Calling All Husbands/Fiancés

Another great way to get back into the habit of charting is, get the man in your life involved. Remember you as a couple are using the Creighton Model together. Have him write your description for the day and put your stamp on the chart. This is great way to keep yourself each other accountable. Working on building this habit back up in your life is a lot easier if you have someone to do it with.

Breath easy friends. We know life can get hectic and sometimes things get lost in the madness. But it is truly important to take care of yourself, mentally, emotionally, and physically, this includes your gynecological health. Make your fertility a priority. If you need help or do not have a practitioner to get you going again please do not hesitate to contact one of us practitioners. We are here to help you build your confidence in using the system and to help you get back on track.
