The Case for Creighton: Why a Classic Method is More Relevant Than Ever

It has basically become a cliché at this point to observe how quickly technology is evolving. Everything in our digital world is optimized, fast, efficient, "maxed out," and shiny. When you are weighing your options for family planning or seeking answers for reproductive health issues, it is easy to get drawn to the newest gadgets on the market. The Creighton Model FertilityCare System is not the new kid on the block. But in a world obsessed with automated shortcuts, are we still relevant?

I would argue that the Creighton Model is more relevant, necessary, and empowering than ever before. Here is why.

1. Accompaniment: A Continuous Circle of Care

Following the Creighton Model structure requires a minimum of eight standardized follow-up sessions over the course of your first year. When you factor in the initial introductory session, you are looking at a minimum of 9 to 10 hours of personalized, one-on-one instructional time.

We don't just talk about the lines on your chart. We talk about your relationship, your overall health, intimacy, upcoming doctor’s appointments, stress levels, biomarkers, and so much more. This is not a transactional relationship; it is a collaborative one.

The bond you develop with your FertilityCare Practitioner over this time often spans the entire length of your reproductive life. Your practitioner becomes a trusted "home base" that you can return to as your life seasons shift, your health needs evolve, and your family planning goals change. In an era where medical care can feel rushed and detached, we are not just here to hand you a template—we are here to teach, guide, support, and cheer you on every step of the way.

2. Embodiment: Reclaiming the Power of Your Own Observations

There is a well-understood concept when it comes to food and nutrition: the closer you are to your food source, the healthier your relationship with eating tends to be. Think about the mindfulness of raising chickens and collecting their eggs for breakfast, or picking fresh tomatoes from a planter on your deck. You become deeply connected to the process.

The same principle applies to your fertility. Today, the market is flooded with wearable devices that require a single daily sync, or even more streamlined long-acting options where you "set it and forget it" for years. While highly convenient, these methods can inadvertently distance us from our own bodies.

We are embodied creatures. As you physically make Creighton Model observations throughout the day, notice the natural biomarkers your body produces, and track them on a physical chart, something truly tangible happens. You build body literacy. You aren't relying on a black-box algorithm to tell you what your body is doing; you are reading your body’s own language in real time. That direct connection creates a deep sense of autonomy and confidence that no app can replicate.

3. Expertise: Rigor and Science Over Trends

Fertility monitors, tracking apps, and high-tech devices constantly inundate the market. But how many of these options have been rigorously studied, peer-reviewed, and stood the test of time? Very few.

The Creighton Model System has decades of solid, evidence-based research and medical development behind it, closely linked with the science of NaProTECHNOLOGY (Natural Procreative Technology). When you use this system, you aren't a beta tester for a tech startup's new software update.

Furthermore, working with a Certified FertilityCare Practitioner (FCP) ensures you are learning from a highly qualified professional. To put it in perspective, a certified practitioner must complete an intensive 13-month supervised practicum, which includes two separate, rigorous in-person educational phases. They have also passed a comprehensive on-site clinical evaluation from their supervisor where they demonstrated real-world competence with actual clients, followed by a rigorous national standardized final certificate examination. Furthermore, to maintain their credentials, they must consistently meet strict continuing education requirements and undergo a formal peer-review process of their clinical case management to renew their certification. This level of educational rigor, thoroughness, and oversight is practically unmatched by any other method.

Final Thoughts

All of this being said, we operate under a foundational principle in our work: there is more than enough work for all of us. There are several other high-quality Natural Family Planning (NFP) and Fertility Awareness-Based Methods (FABMs) out there that have valuable, wonderful applications for different couples.

But if you are feeling overwhelmed by the endless sea of digital options, ever-evolving devices, and AI-driven predictions, I encourage you to tune out the noise. The Creighton Model has stood the test of time. It provides an unmatched depth of quality, scientific validity, and compassionate, competent care to support you through every single one of your reproductive years.
