NFP in 280 Characters or Less?
I've heard it said often "we live in a soundbite world." Technology, and how we process information, is changing at a break-neck pace. Do we truly live in a soundbite world? And is that term even still relevant? Who even listens to soundbites anymore? Maybe we should think of it more like a headline culture. Or, perhaps, an Instagram or TwitX culture. According to Gallup , fewer books are being read with a more pronounced drop being seen amongst college graduates. Maybe its j

A Different Kind of Gift
Last year during the holiday season, I wrote about how to handle nosy relatives that butt into your sex life . And last week, Jessica talked about how holiday stress can affect your chart . So what else is there left to discuss about the charting and the holiday season? Alcohol! I'm kidding. Gifts, actually. Specifically, spousal self-gift. In the past, Karoline, has discussed the meaning of sexual intercourse on a natural level . I'd like to dive a bit deeper into her discus

Are You Drinking Estrogen?
Estrogen Dominance is a bit of a catch phrase in the world of women's health and fertility right now. This is because many women suffer from symptoms of Estrogen Dominance, and/or they have been diagnosed with it. In her previous blog on Estrogen Dominance , Daria discussed what Estrogen Dominance is and how to navigate it so I highly suggest you read that blog as well. Today, I want to dive further into Estrogen Dominance and chat about environmental estrogens. No, estrogen

The Link Between Anxiety, Depression, and Hormones
Anxiety is one of the most common problems I see when I work with couples, especially in women. Daria previously discussed how anxiety can affect charting and gave tips on how to overcome those struggles. Today, I want to share my story and talk about the link between anxiety, depression, and hormones. I was standing in a K-Mart (that tells you how long ago this was) when I suddenly got light-headed and started having tunnel vision. A little while later I was being transport

There's a Supplement for That?
Pills in a cup I'm a little granola crunchy. Ok. I lie. I'm a lot of granola crunchy . Western medicine has failed me so many times that I could dedicate an entire website to it. But Western medicine is the reason my son is alive and I'm a HUGE fan of NaPRO Technology , so I'm not anti-Western medicine. I just tend towards going a natural route first. I completely understand why women turn to dietary changes (for the record I am 100% on board with that) and supplements to cu

The Independence of Tracking Your Cycle
Before starting this blog, I want to wish you a very happy Independence Day to you and your family. As I was reflecting on what a July 4th blog post would look like, it struck me that, as Americans, we understand and embrace a culture of independence. It's written in the core of our country and drives everything from bucking political systems to striving for individuality in our clothing, technology, and work. After further reflection, I really started to understand how Ferti

I Hate Using NFP
I hate using NFP. It's true. I also hate eating an alternative diet , exercising, cleaning my house, and giving birth. I could pretty much live very contently without ever doing one of these things ever again. I'm sure you can see where this is going. Clearly each of these things, while difficult, painful, and simply un-fun (exercise and eating well are not fun for me, no), are important and dare I say, essential. The benefit of going through the birthing process and holding

What Has Been Asked of You is Tremendous - My Story
I sat in the gathering room at the Ronald McDonald Apartment in Ann Arbor, Michigan looking out the window. It was cold outside, the air was crisp and the sun flickered off the autumn leaves in a magnificent display of red, orange, and yellow. It was beautiful. But I couldn't enjoy it. My 4 day old son was in the NICU on another floor of the building - dying. My 17 month old daughter was somewhere with my mom. I hadn't seen her in days, and I didn't really know where she was.
